QuillMic is a menu-bar dictation app for macOS — press a hotkey, speak, and your words appear in any focused app, on-device by default.
QuillMic is a privacy-first dictation app for macOS that lives in the menu bar. One global hotkey turns the microphone on; your words land clean in whatever app you were already using. Speech recognition runs on-device by default; cloud is opt-in and bring-your-own-key.
QuillMic is a menu-bar dictation app for macOS, designed around a single hotkey rather than a window. Press the chord, speak, and the transcript lands in whatever app held keyboard focus. The bundled Whisper engine ships in the installation, so the first dictation works offline with no setup. A second hotkey opens Nika, an in-app voice assistant who can draft email replies, reshape paragraphs, or forward a request to an external LLM and speak the answer back. Audio is held in volatile memory only and never persisted; cloud features are off by default and require a user-supplied API key. QuillMic runs on Apple silicon Macs, macOS 13 or later, and is distributed through the Mac App Store.
